The first day of school is a rough day all around. Tearful kids, new schedules, the harsh reality that long summer days are over for good. Each year I like to surprise the kids with a little treat at the end of the day. Tradition dictates that I’ll bake our special back to school brownies as an after school snack, that we’ll have tacos for dinner while we talk about their new teachers and that I’ll meet them after school with my camera at the ready and a special surprise to celebrate their first day back.
I picked up these buckets with chalkboard labels on them. I love that they can be erased and reused to hold pencils or school supplies later on. I filled them with small treats and fun school supplies like pencils, erasers, glue, markers, hand sanitizer and these crayola tissue packs that I absolutely love!
I wrapped the buckets in cellophane and added a chalkboard tag with each of their names, ready to brighten their day! Leave a comment below and let me know what special traditions you celebrate to ease the first-day-back-blues!
