It seems like just yesterday J was off to his first day of school. Of course he’s now a third grader, which coincidentally means he’s too old to yell “love you too mama” from the stairs of the bus and he suddenly has a very strong opinion on the type of hair cut he wants. Thankfully he hasn’t outgrown our first day of school celebration however – something that he confided to me over breakfast the other morning. “I know you usually make pancakes, but I think our first day of school breakfast this year should be zucchini bread” he said while shoving fistfuls of a zucchini bread in his mouth (because third graders eat like starving cavemen it seems). I’m glad he hasn’t outgrown this little tradition of ours yet.
Since I love our First Day of School routine so much I want to share with you the printables I use to make it happen, so below you will find First day of School Printable About Me Signs and First Day of School Completion Certificates! When I made these First Day of School printable signs I wanted to include an area that could be personalized so I added a few questions – favorite color, best friend and future career, and it’s always been fun to look back over the years at how to answers have – or haven’t – changed!
Once they’re off to school I’ll print the award certificates and present them along with a fun snack and small surprise (like these back to school gift buckets) at the end of the day. I’ve done them from preschool to 8th grade (because I’m an optimist who believes the boys will still be willing to do this through middle school).
To snag the First Day of School Printable Signs just click on the image you want to see the full size, download and print it! At full size these printables are 8X10. (Get the award certificates below!)
And don’t forget to print out one of these certificates as well, then party the afternoon away (it will probably be the last afternoon you spend homework free until Christmas anyway!)… Just click on an image to see and download the full size graphic.
