Wimbley the Wonder Boy by Angela Hawkins is a book about a curious preschooler who wonders just what he can do, and gets into some mischief along the way. He wonders what will happen if he does things like pouring his own milk or yelling loud enough to be heard around the world. This book paves the way for discussion about cause, effect and even consequences (Wimbley wonders what will happen if he dials 911, which led to a great discussion with the boys) in a way that is easy for children to relate to. Bright, playful illustrations make the book fun and engaging.
I read it with my 7, 4 and 2 year olds and they all enjoyed it. My youngest loved naming everything in the pictures, while the older boys and I talked about what would happen if Wimbley did some of these things he was thinking of!
